Introduction
The hopeless and insecure innocent citizens of Burma have been gradually compromised with the response of the international civilized society in the form of the arrival in Burma of Ibrahim Gambari the UN special envoy of Secretary General Mr Ban-ki Moon and the UN Human Right Commissioner Professor Paulo Sergio Pinheiro. I do hope that they have collected the correct data on the nonviolent neo-democratic mass actors across the country that is threatened by the regime. Such precious and grand diplomatic action usually materializing from the UN on Burma has for decades brought no significant socio-political changes in Burma.
Here it is very obvious that there have been threats and arrests by the regime of neo democratic leaders, human rights activists and those who advocate basic security of innocent citizens from the harmful projects owned by the regime.
Especially we don't even understand why Ms Ja Awn Lu and her coordinators were arrested on 11th November while organizing a signature campaign against the Irrawaddy dam project in Myitkyina, Kachin State. According to a recently released report by the KDNG (Kachin Development Networking Group) -- "Damming the Irrawaddy" the project will displace thousands of villagers residing in the area.
The project will make the regime stronger and allow it to hold on to their dictatorship from the revenue of at least $ 500 million per year from it. A Christian church office bearer said that "the regime plan of construction of dams beginning from the one that has been built at View Point, just three miles from the confluence is their strategy of controlling the main rivers in the Kachin state to Burmanize the Kachins and the land with militarization."
As defenseless citizens or rather victims of military dictators over decades they can't even hope for any progress on the diplomatic approach of soft and flexible intervention initiated by the UN since the 1988 mass democratic demonstrations in order to have civil rule which brought swift retribution with the junta killing and torturing people.
Even today we the helpless victims under the regime fighting for basic rights and a civil system in Burma are still defenselessly marching for our commitment seeking justice. The fact that being the citizens of this country we have been responsible and have come up fighting the military dictatorship knowing the dangers, hardships, killings, arrests, torture and persecution which is visited upon us.
Then how can we proceed fighting such cruelty by the military dictatorship with positive hope so long as we the defenseless victims trying for our common goal without any help and practical support. Therefore it is obvious that the unpractical help of the international community is indeed very much questionable today. Here it is very clear that the single hand will never work in politics especially towards such order-less, principle-less and terrorist military regime as in Burma.
Neo-Principle to be exercised as demanded now
One of the members of the Zionist Forum Natan Sharansky once said, "Talking softly won't work…" Here what it is essentially to be rationalized is that it is time to end the UN initiation of intervention of transforming Burma into a democracy with the principle of diplomacy which emphasizes more the principle of imposing democracy upon the regime instead of implementing practical leadership, If the UN is really interested in solving the political disorder and turmoil of Burma.
In Burma nonviolent movements and passive allies will not work against such dictators and will never be as effective as Mohandas K. Gandhi's movement against the British colonialism who had principles in their social-political realm in India. Now it is high time for all citizens of the world to think how we should handle the social political rot in Burma. We are fed up of the usual initiation of the help of the International community and the UN not making a practical assessment on the Burma issue. There is only one thing that this article is indicating that is the present UN and international roles being played effective enough for Burma to transform to a democracy? The UN role on Burma is weak.
Concluding key notes
In such a situation in Burma, we the defenseless victims under the regime would advocate a new agenda to the international community including the UN to be precipitated/considered in the handling of the Burma issue. In fact we have the UN and the civilized communities emphasizing to the regime to formulate democracy in Burma.
The situation demands a change and the never effective principle of diplomacy by way of imposing an unpractical democracy with the active cultivating democracy by way of full support of the civil democratic body and running the interim/permanent UN pre-democratic administration through an office in Burma at least. Because the seed of genuine democracy has to be protected and nurtured for the time being and we can't just fight these neo-Nazis of south East Asia alone.
History is tells us that the regime would never usher in democracy even if the UN and the international community hope it will happen as thousands and thousands of promises have been made to the world before by the regime. The defenseless victims under the regime are crying out today in Burma saying, "We don't want just voices from the founders and protectors of the civil democratic world, we need your help along with forces to eradicate this evil which swallow its own flesh, blood and lives in this beautiful nation."
Now, it is time when the bell of liberty should be rung and echoed to us to make us really clap together in order to abolish the evil of military dictatorship in the midst of the civilized society.
