The National Democratic Force (NDF) Party inaugurated its new office in Kachin State today at 9 a.m. in the Kachin State capital, Myitkyina, and committed to assist desperate Kachin refugees near the China border.
U Ma Hka, the party’s General Secretary for Kachin State told the Thailand-based Kachin News Group, “We are going to form a committee to seek ways to help Kachin refugees.”
The office was opened in the Kyu Pyin Tar quarter, where a Christian traditional prayer service was joined by over 100 people, including delegates from the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), the Unity and Democracy Party of Kachin State (UDPKS), the National Unity Party (NUP) and the White Tiger Party (Shan Nationalities Democratic Party).
Daw Bawk Ja, the Party Chairman for Kachin State and General Secretary U Ma Hka will also conduct political and human rights education programs in Kachin communities, the two party leaders said during the ceremony.
The party was defeated when it contested two seats in the People’s Parliament for Myitkyina and Hpakant constituencies during the 2010 election.
